A Spring-Mix of Characters

Winter has officially left the region and to usher in the new season we look to the women to breathe optimism into the air, starting Friday March 21.  Catherine Deneuve brings her joi de vivre and captivating screen presence to yet another French vehicle with ON MY WAY.  As a grandmother, she works through her own disappointment in life, as she meanders through contemporary France with her young grandson.

“This tender film works to remind us of how much we still love Deneuve, and succeeds in scene after scene.”  – Farran Smith Nehme, New York Post

AFTERNOON OF A FAUN:  TANAQUIL DE CLERCQ is a loving look at perhaps the most famous ballerina and muse of her era.  Setting a new bar for the physical look of a dancer, she possessed a confidence far beyond her young years.  She was loved by two towering figures in the world of dance, George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins.  Stricken by polio, she loses her ability to perform and the film shows a life of constant readjustment.

“Buirski clearly shows that the spark that made her great couldn’t be snuffed out so easily.”  – Stephanie Zacharek , Village Voice

Held over, TIM’S VERMEER continues to wow, with everyone leaving the theater with a new appreciation of dedication.  The intensity of the preparation and days spent in close -up camera work leaves viewers emotionally exhausted.
