COLD WAR: The 3-time Oscar nominee makes its way to The Showroom Cinema starting Friday! Directed by BEST DIRECTOR nominee Pawel Pawlikowski, the film follows the years long tale of Zula (Joanna Kulig), a young singer, and Wiktor (Tomasz Kot), a couple in love, who are constantly pushed and pulled apart by circumstance. Set against the backdrop of post-war Poland, this sprawling film charts the heated beginnings of their flirtation, to the dramatic conclusion of their story together. In Polish, with subtitles. Nominated for BEST DIRECTOR, BEST FOREIGN FILM, and BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY at this year’s Academy Awards categories. ROMA: See this big story, a 10-time Oscar nominee the way it was meant to be seen; on the BIG SCREEN! The film follows Cleo (BEST ACTRESS nominee Yalitza Aparicio), a housemaid in Mexico that cares for the children and household of an upper-class couple. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron, director of Children of Men and Gravity. Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) rules over Britain, but has become quite frail. In her stead, her friend and trusted advisor Sarah (Rachel Weisz) takes on many of the responsibilities of the Queen, while also pushing her own agenda. The entire dynamic of power is challenged when Sarah’s distant cousin Abigail (Emma Stone) comes to the castle looking for work. REEL JERSEY GIRLS: March 17th at 3:00pm, come join the Fort Lee Film Commission/ Barrymore Film Center and us for a day of celebrating the phenomenal work the women of NJ have done in the film industry. Festivities begins with the screening the 1912 short ALGIE THE MINER, a short film directed by Alice Guy Blache, the first female studio owner, who ran Solax Studios in Fort Lee, NJ. Then, writer/director Jenna Laurenzo, a NJ native, will introduce and screen her film LEZ BOMB, the story of a closeted gay woman that brings her girlfriend home for Thanksgiving dinner.
