Golden Globe Nominee GREEN BOOK

Good Morning From Asbury Park!

GREEN BOOK: Another Golden Globe nominee starts this week! Based on a true story, GREEN BOOK is the story of a New York City bouncer named Tony ‘Lip’ Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen). He receives a job offer to become a driver for world-class pianist Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali). Shirley is an African-American man about to embark on a concert tour in the deep south in the 60’s; a journey that is sure to be full of trouble. Nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Picture, and earning a Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for Mortenson and Ali respectively. This is a ‘can’t miss’ film for anyone looking to stay up to date as we move deeper into the awards season. “(Director)Farelly elevates this real story from a funny anecdote to a moving and thought-provoking fable about the difficulties of being a full person in a multi-faceted world.” Manuela Lazic, Vague Visages.LEARN MORE AND WATCH THE TRAILER

MARIA BY CALLAS: Another week for the documentary about the famous Greek-American diva, Maria Callas. Opera fans and the uninitiated alike are coming out of this film raving. Get a ‘behind the scenes’ look at the life of opera’s most infamous personality, in her own words. “The film resolves as a passionate tribute to a woman who commanded the world’s attention, but was never afforded its decency. It’s a curtain call for Callas, and a chance for the great singer to be heard again.” David Ehrlich, IndieWire.   LEARN MORE AND WATCH THE TRAILER.

SHOPLIFTERS: Don’t miss your chance to see this Golden Globe nominee for Best Foreign Film! SHOPLIFTERS is a slice-of-life tale about a impoverished Japanese family that is doing everything they can just to scrape by, but what family doesn’t have its secrets? Earlier this year, Shoplifters won the coveted Palm d’Orat the Cannes Film Festival in France, one of the most prestigious awards in the entire industry. It is Japan’s submission for Best Foreign-Language Film for the upcoming Academy Awards, and it is currently the odds-on favorite to win. “Kore-eda has sculpted a breathtakingly delicate exploration of what it means to find your tribe.” Kristy Puchko, Riot Material.  LEARN MORE AND WATCH THE TRAILER.
