Good Morning From Asbury Park!

HAPPY NEW YEAR: Thank you for the last 10 years. As The ShowRoom Cinema moves into 2019, we’ll be expanding in a number of ways – in our offerings of special events, first-run independent movies, varied concessions and of course, our new location in Bradley Beach. The opening of a new cinema is a combination of anticipation and excitement and we look forward to sharing the story with all of you who have helped to make it possible. Thank you for coming to our theater, for telling others about us and for offering your compliments, encouragement and excitement for our progress.  We couldn’t do it without you! 

GREEN BOOK is a movie about family, Christmas and inclusion, all traditions that have meaning for many of us. Two men are thrown together for a short time and what starts our as a simple employer-employee relationship and evolves into a learning experience for both, while on a road trip through the Deep South in 1962.  But most important, as J. Olson, of CINEMIXTAPE says, “Ali and Mortensen are both spectacular.”  If you haven’t seen this one, you owe yourself. Nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Picture, and earning a Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for Mortenson and Ali respectively. FREE SOLO takes an upclose and personal walk in the shoes of a longtime mountain climber who is both experienced in rope climbing and a daredevil who free solos, climbs without ropes.  Built around family and friends’ recollections of Alex Honold, the young climber, this film keeps you on the edge of your seat as he effortlessly bounds from one chink in the rock to the next.  Or as Mara Reinstein of US WEEKLY writes, ‘Do you have vertigo?  Get dizzy easily?  No? Good.  Then you’re in for an amazing exhilarating climb to the top.”  For the dreamer in all of us. VOX LUX brings a young Raffey Cassidy and older Natalie Portman iton a world that few see from the inside.   Following a trauma, she finds a career and all that comes with her talent.  Vox Lux presents pop culture in ways that relate to all the ways that mega stars flaunt their uniqueness, their power and their self centered natures.  Ruben Peralta Riguad of Cocalecas says, “[Raffey Cassidy] has a very good scene with Natalie Portman in the second act…and that is where both present an extraordinary chemistry.”Is pop shallow or are the singers simply singing shallow songs?  Hear the songs, written by Sia and If you like to discuss the pros and cons of the music industry, this one is for you.  LEARN MORE AND WATCH THE TRAILER.

FREE PARKING NEW YEARS DAY:  We’re showing movies all day long on 1/1/19 – so come on in and take advantage of free parking all day as well. Celebrate the New Year with a great movie and park your car for free thanks to the Asbury Park City Council. Find a spot on the street, or in one of two lots half a block from the theater – in the transportation center lot or the city hall municipal lot.

However, we don’t always know if or when we will be able to actually get them from distributors. We set showtimes on a week-by-week basis and will announce them as soon as we can confirm them.
